Detailing

What is Detailing?

A question which we often get asked is "what is detailing?" Detailing is a term used to describe advanced valeting techniques which require specialist equipment, products and operator skills in order to achieve an outstandingly turned out and eye catching car that is also well protected from the elements.
Although the main goals of detailing are typically beautification and protection, it can also involve minor paint work repair and surface restoration. Detailing can also cover areas of a car that are usually ignored by standard valeting such as the engine, engine bay, wheel arches, trims and chrome work or carbon fibre. Detailing can be very specific to the vehicle type or customer's exact requirements.

Protection Detail
In addition to the standard Detail Wash, this service also lays down a layer of sealant or wax to protect your vehicle’s paintwork. This is important all year round but especially over the winter months when salt, grime, and general dirt and contaminants attack your vehicle’s paintwork. Due to the slick properties of sealants and wax, dirt, dust and road grime find it harder to bond to this protective layer meaning that the treated surface stays cleaner for longer and is easier to keep clean too!
• 12 stage Detail Wash PLUS:
• Door shuts are washed and cleansed.
• All painted surfaces are wiped down with IPA (Isopropanol alcohol) panel wipe to ensure the wax or sealant bonds properly to the paint surface for maximum longevity.
• Choice of high quality wax or sealant application.
• Window rubbers are dressed.
• All plastics are dressed.
• All exterior glass, including mirrors, is cleaned with high quality glass cleaner.
• Wiper blades are cleaned with an alcohol based cleaner.
• Exhaust tips are polished.
• High quality wheel wax is applied to alloy wheels.
• Polymer or wax based detail spray is used on all exterior painted surfaces to add a further layer of protection.

New Car Protection Detail
When purchasing your new car you would expect the paintwork to be in an impeccable condition – however this is rarely the case. New cars often leave the production line with paintwork defects such as sanding marks, slight paintwork marring or buffer trails from improper machine polishing methods. Poor dealership valeting and preparation of the car will often inflict more damage such as fine scratches, industrial fallout not being removed, surface marring, bird etching, or holograms to name a few.

Dealerships often try to sell their customers "lifetime lasting" poor quality paintwork protection products (LifeShine, Gard-X, Supaguard, Diamondbrite to name the main ones) which claim to last forever and a day whilst protecting the vehicle from the elements. Although it may seem convenient, it is not good value for money as the products are applied incorrectly over the top of improper paintwork finishes. Their valeters are on short time constraints and often lack the proper technique and training on how to best apply the product to protect your new investment!

Our New Car Detail typically takes 1-2 days to complete. In this time we will ensure the vehicle is immaculately clean and free from contaminants before carrying out a single stage machine polish to increase gloss levels and remove any fine swirl marks or imperfections ready for the protection products to be applied.

We also offer a New Car Protection Detail Extra’s Pack. This involves the following; the removal of your new alloy wheels to coat them inside and out; the sealing of exterior glass with a durable rain repellent to improve driving visibility in wet weather; a leather guard coating to leather seats which will prevent dirt and dye deteriorating of the leather; and lastly the interior upholstery is treated to a ScotchgardTM fabric protectant. This package will give your fantastic new car the very best start to life.
